Hi everyone, Yesterday I received a postcard out of the blue(as I'm sure a lot of you have received) it was just a blank postcard with my name on it and a thinly veiled threat that someone is coming on the 14th Oct between 8 and 6 to visit me. That was it? I had no idea what the hell it was about who they were etc etc? It was only by looking on this site that I now know who they are! Basically I tread a similasr story to probably a lot of other members.I moved into a council flat at the end of Feb this year. The gas wasnt on.The council came out and turned it on.I rasng the company Southern Scottish and gave them the meter reading. The moron woman said that that couldnt be the correct reading. As I was ringing up from a phone box that meant walking about a mile back to my flat and a mile back to the phone box. When I re-rang an Asian guy was the complete opposite. He said the problem was that the previous occupier must have mis read or falsely read the meter reading, and not to worry as it would be amended.I have used the gas fire for about 3 hours since I've lived there.I then received a bill saying that I owe £150.I contacted the electric company and they took down my details.I've heard no more until this card whjich I'm assuming is related to it judging by other members previous posts. Any advice would be very welcome. Thanks in advance for your excellent site. Danny (Bobbyd)

Yes, I would agree with hkhc. It's not worth entering into any kind of dialogue or correspondence with LCS as they won't listen.
If I were in your position I would write to Scottish & Southern by recorded delivery and explain once again what has happened, detail what you were told in your phone conversations, and ask them to cancel the £150 bill and issue a more realistic one. If the communication from LCS bothers you, ask the energy provider to tell LCS to stop.
Then, for good measure, I would cancel my account with Scottish & Southern and find an energy provider that doesn't use LCS (suggestions please!).

Hi, On Thursday I came home to find an Owner/Occupier addressed envelope.I opened it and it couldnt have been anymore unclear if they tried yet they expected me to give them my full name, full address, date I moved in,date of birth, where I had moved from, who my landlord is.....all kindsw of private details, the like of which I would not give anyone who I didnt know, and certainly not from some non-descript company. I rang the number up and some herbert put the phone down on me.I rang back up and explained my situation to the next guy(possibly the same guy) and he too put the phone down on me.Tried a number of times to get back in touch but they appeared to have put some block on the number so it just kept on making an irritating buzzing sound on the phone. I will recontact Southern Electric, and ignore LCS from now on. Thanks for advice.
