I am fuming over 2 letters and phone calls from LCS. I received a first threatening letter from LCS telling me that I owed £120 for Gas supplied at a property for a period that I did not live there. I immediately phoned and agreed to send a council tax bill showing my residence to be at the other end of the country for the time they specified.
Then a week later, I get another letter from they saying since I've ignored all their attempts to contact me (??!!) they will send baliffs/take me to court. When I phoned to speak to them again, I was told that the bill wasn't proof of where I was living and so they would continue to chase me for the balance despite me showing I didn't live there!
I contacted E.on (who they are acting on behalf of) who tell me that they have no record whatsoever of me, or providing Gas to the property! (They only supplied Electricity for the property). So basically, LCS have found out that I rented this property at some stage (although not for the period they specify) and so are chasing me for the debt as they only have "The occupier" as the name on the bill for that time!!!!
I'm completely fed up and worried, as nothing I say or do seems to resolve this. Surely council tax is proof of where you lived? Besides which E.on say they've only supplied Electricity at that time and not gas !!!
Any ideas on how to resolve this? All three people I've spoken to at LCS have been rude, agressive and can't/won't tell me how to resolve this - they have no suggestions on how I can prove I didn't live at the property and so just told me I have to pay the debt!!!!
