Hello Meesh.
Yep, ignoring it is absolutely the right thing to do - never give LCS a scrap of info.

I got a similar letter from them today. I refuse to give MY details to anyone, especially when it's regarding a debt that doesn't concern me. I went to there site and used the live chat thing on there - I then gave them the ref number and address (no name) and they've removed me from their mailing list now apparently. We'll wait and see.

I too got exactly the same letter, but when I called them I was provided with very real details that they had been passed by British Gas for a bill that was outstanding on my property since I moved in in December. It was exactly the same amount outstanding as I had seen on a bill which I thought I had paid a month or so back. When I checked my online banking, the money had never left my account, so I called them back and paid the bill on the phone. No more problems since. So in short - LCS are genuine!

So in short - LCS are genuine! Are they shite!!! The above post may have been a genuine case but I'm more inclined to believe it's been posted by an employee of LCS. Seriously, who visits and registers on a forum like this to tell others of a positive outcome when having to pay up to a debt recovery agency? The vast majority of people are being chased for final bills owed by a previous occupier. Any idiot can do a Google search and realise that within about 5 seconds.

Bunch of scum. Got a letter a few weeks ago for an incorrect amount owing to British Gas from when we moved into a new house. Bill amount is about £600 for 15 days supply, which is obviously wrong. I phoned them and explained and was told that it is not the responsibility of the billing company to make sure that bills are accurate, it is down to the homeowner. After about half an hour of wrangling I told them that I was referring this to the ombudsman and we parted company. Today, I got a seven day letter from them as I had not disputed the original letter. I'll keep folk posted as to what the ombudsman says!

LCS are running a scam. The first letter is meant to frighten you but seriously - if they were legit they would have all the information they are asking for in the letter!! It's a phishing scheme. They are relying on the scare tactics, which unfortunately work on good, honest people who will innocently respond to say there is a mistake. THEN THEY HAVE YOUR INFORMATION! Listen people, just because someone asks you for information does not obligate you to give it!! Ignore all of their letters and don't worry about LCS!!!

I worked for LCS for a few years and the company are genuine, awful to work for but genuine. Its the companies like British gas and BT that send over scraps of information and expect collection to be made in a week when they don't even have a name for an account. You wouldn't believe some of the rubbish they would send over. Some BT accounts were just made up by BT employees to meet targets at their end. The amount of times I spoke to people who had just rang BT for a quote and BT opened up a false account was ridiculous. A lot of the accounts lcs get sent are just ongoing disputes that British Gas just can't be bothered to deal with so they send them on to the next debt collector. Rebecca Carter does not exist, they do not send out bailiffs and in most cases if you moan enough you can get 50% wiped off your debt. Most accounts it is 20-30% without even having to get a managers approval....even if they put you on hold pretending to speak to a manager. To be honest its sometimes better for it to go to a debt collector as you save more money in the end you just have to play the complaints game

R Carter sent me two dated 12/06/18, one says I'm in dept £179 the othere £211, I've got no dept at all this must be a mistake on there and or the energy supplier, I don't like the way I'm being harrased and the fauls accusations there making against me, my next step is court if they don't reply to me. it's unbelievable I don't no where the dept has come from also I havnt been told where it's from just received a threatening letter giving me the opitunity to pay £211 what I do not owe they also think there going to take things to cover the dept that would be classed as theft because I don't owe anything and I don't personally own the things in my house as soon as someone turns up I'm ringing the police so could someone get back to me in this I'll be contacting a solicitor now just in case I need to claim for being threatened and harrased.
Mush appreciated Ms S Gordon
