Yeah, EON have instructed them to chase a debt for a house I am landlord of and they are up to their tricks chasing me at my home address for money owed by a former tenant. They aren't interested in getting the money, if they were they would listen to me telling them where to find the guy who owes it!

I keep getting phone calls from Leeds Consultancy Services needing to speak to a Mr X who isn't the previous owner of my house, but the one before that!
I heep telling them that he is no longer at the address and could they stop bothering me. But their calls still come. How long will it be until they put a bad credit report against the house and I'll not be able to afford my own mortgage and get it repossessed because of some stuipd company not listening to me?!

I heep telling them that he is no longer at the address and could they stop bothering me. But their calls still come. How long will it be until they put a bad credit report against the house and I'll not be able to afford my own mortgage and get it repossessed because of some stuipd company not listening to me?! Are you getting letters from Leeds Consultancy Services as well? If not, they don't know your address, and are just chancing it on an old phone number. If they are sending letters, and they're addressed to you, then I would write to them by recorded delivery at Leeds Consultancy Services, 3 Leodis Court, Leeds LS11 5JJ (fax 0113 228 4454) explaining the situation and asking that they do not contact you again. If they are sending letters addressed to the intended recipient of the harassment, then I suppose you could return them to sender marked "no longer at this address", if you feel so inclined. The credit status of people who have previously lived at your address should generally not affect you - only the credit status of someone to whom you are financially linked, like a partner, is likely to be an issue. Regarding this guy LCS want to speak to, your address will probably show up on his credit file somewhere, but that's totally normal. I know this because I used to work for a company that processed credit checks on individuals. Addresses appear on a credit file mainly for fraud prevention purposes - so companies can check that the address histories given by applicants for credit are correct, for example. It doesn't automatically blacklist a particular address. You will not have your house repossessed because some previous resident of your home owes money on a utility bill. Even if things did go down this path, you would have loads of opportunities to spot the problem and set the record straight, such as when a fat wodge of court papers arrives. Your mortgage provider will not withdraw your credit facility or increase your mortgage rate or repayments because a previous resident of your property owes money somewhere - they only care about the names on the mortgage agreement and the people to whom they are financially linked. Hope that makes you feel a bit better.

Another company who use their service is shamefully, British Gas! I'm also being chased by LCS, apparently for final payment of a British Gas bill owed by the previous tenant of the industrial property I now occupy. More worrying is how or why they have my mobile number and linked it to these premises but not my name, trading name or any other details.
